Debates on Contemporary Policy Challenges

The IKPS is promoting open and public debates with the objective of putting the economy in its place again, as a caring and supportive activity in a flourishing social, cultural and ecological civilization. Topics of the debates will cover burning issues, ranging from Brexit, elections in the US, and Bolsonaro’s Brazil to the Green New Deal and Southern Europe ten years after the beginning of its deep crisis. Each debate will be introduced by a short introductory text, disseminated by our newsletter (subscribe here).
We will personally invite contributors, but also call for contributions from the Polanyi community. Everybody can participate

  • For each debate, the calls for contributions will be disseminated via the IKPS Newsletter
  • The debates will be in English
  • Each debate will be introduced by a short topic-specific framing text
  • Contributions should not exceed 500 words and be sent to ikps@wu.ac.at
  • Our aim is to discuss contemporary challenges in line with Polanyi’s work

There will be an open call for contributions to the general public. The IKPS board will be the editorial board that decides on the publication of submitted article. Furthermore, a restricted number of scholars will be invited personally. The debates will be published on the IKPS Website. The texts of the debate will be published under “creative commons”, available to local Polanyi-groups. In case you re-publish the debate, please indicate the reference to IKPS.
